Maud Stephan-Hachem

President

Professor (retired) of Information and Libraries Sciences. Researcher in the field of libraries, book publishing and reading practice. Founding member of the Assabil Association, member of Shamaa Arab Educational Information Network Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.

Antoine Boulad

Vice- president

Born in 1951, Antoine Boulad is a founding member of both associations, Assabil and Kitabat. His cause is reading/writing and citizenship. Published poet and writer, he is author of more than fifteen books. He has been a teacher and director at the International College. He currently runs creative writing workshops.

Secretary

Serials Librarian at the Lebanese National Library. Librarian at the American Community School Upper Library. A board member at the Lebanese Library Association (2022-2025).

Fadia Hoteit

Member

Researcher and professor at the Lebanese University, holding a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Paris-Sorbonne, Paris V. She has numerous educational, social, and psychological studies and research on children, families, and women. Among her books: “Childhood and National Policies in Lebanon” (2018) and “Lebanese Women Researchers.


About Us

ASSABIL is a non-governmental organization founded in 1997 to promote reading and free access to culture. By creating public libraries as non-sectarian and open spaces for cultural exchange and providing access to information and reading, ASSABIL filled a void in postwar Lebanon.
