About Beirut Municipal Public Libraries
ASSABIL is commissioned by the Municipality of Beirut to manage and operate the municipal public libraries in the neighborhoods of Bachoura, Geitawi and Monnot.
Our public libraries are a local gateway to information and knowledge. We provide free access to around 50,000 books to people of all ages and backgrounds.
We organize and host various activities aiming at improving and supporting the awareness and the cultural development of our local community.

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN OUR LIBRARIES?
Borrow books
Adults can borrow up to 4 books for 4 weeks, and Youth can borrow up to 7 books for 4 weeks. Just visit our libraries and ask for your free library membership.
Cultural activities
Participate in a rich program of cultural activities.

Daily newspapers
Consult daily newspapers.
Internet access
Enjoy free internet and computer access.
Book clubs
Join our Arabic, English and French book clubs.
Children’s corners
Children can browse and read in special children’s corners.
Children activities
Children can take part in a range of activities just for them (storytelling, theater, arts and crafts).
Sessions & workshops
Participate to a variety of awareness sessions and workshops held online or in our libraries.

Check out the newest arrivals to our libraries including fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults in Arabic, French and English.

British Council Digital Library
As a member of the British Council Digital Library, you will have world-class resources at the tip of your fingers, from online study resources to popular eBooks and audiobooks, and award-winning documentaries. All digital library memberships issued will be free of charge until 31 March 2022.
Culturethèque
In collaboration with the French Institute in Lebanon, we provide access to the content of the Culturethèque only from the library's computers and tablets. This digital portal offers many French resources: Francophone literature, novels, French literary prizes, French language learning, daily press, magazines, comics, audio books, France Culture podcasts, animated films for children, Francophone music, and others.
